180 Habits is not a medical service
We don't provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Full stop.
Everything on this site is for informational and educational purposes only. The articles are researched, referenced, and written carefully — but they are not a substitute for talking to a qualified healthcare professional about your specific situation.
Always consult a doctor before
- Making any changes to prescribed medication
- Stopping or reducing alcohol or drug use, especially after heavy or prolonged use
- Starting any cessation treatment or programme
- Making any health decision based on something you read here
This part is important: withdrawal can be dangerous
Alcohol withdrawal and opioid withdrawal can be medically serious. This isn't a disclaimer for the sake of it — it's genuinely true and worth knowing.
If you've been drinking heavily every day, stopping abruptly without medical supervision can cause complications including seizures, delirium, and in some cases can be life-threatening. The same applies to certain other substances after regular, heavy use.
Please talk to a doctor before stopping. A GP can supervise withdrawal, prescribe medication to make it safer, and refer you to appropriate support. You don't have to make it harder than it needs to be.
What the content on this site is
It's researched. It's referenced against real clinical studies and reviewed for accuracy. We update it when the evidence changes.
What it isn't: a replacement for a conversation with someone who knows your full medical history, your current medications, and your circumstances. Every person's situation is different. What's appropriate for one person may not be appropriate for another.
We're not doctors, therapists, or licensed counsellors.
